DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Autorouter 101
This project is intended to be used in a series of video tutorials for training CircuitMaker users how to get good results with the Autorouter. This design is not finished yet, but will be soon. After it's finished we will be using this project as a basis for Situs autorouter training.
Single Board Computer Design
The idea was to do an old-school "single board computer". Why old-school? Because it combines the necessary elements to understand the different routing algorithms used in Altium's Situs Autorouter:
- Fan-out
- Memory
- Hug
- Main
- Recorner
- etc.
These older style 8051 circuits that used external RAM/EPROM - we don't miss 'em! There's a lot more work to do designing and routing a board with all those chips. BUT it does provide a rich testbed for learning to use Situs.
Of course, you could just do a simple design using an AVR or PIC and be done with it, and autoroute it using the default settings, and you know it would work. BUT, you'd not like the look of the results, and not learn anything - so where's the fun in that?
