Project is a 12VDC to 110VDC Step Up Converter.
This uses a 12V 9Ah SLA Battery to power a 110VDC Step Up DC/DC Converter. This circuit can draw a max of 12A.
Requirements for PCB were that
1) Low Power Toggle Switch interface for Turning DC/DC Converter ON/OFF
2) Interlocking of Charger to remove supply from DC/DC Converter when Charger Connected.
PCB is simple but requires Power tracks of 1.9mm thick (2oz Copper) for carrying of power up to 12Amps.
Temp Calculation of:
~49 degrees Celsius @ 10A
~63 degrees Celsius @ 12A
Calculations required a MOSFET which above all has a low RDS. Requirement also include I
DS of >12A.
Chosen PSMN2R0-30PL due to its ultra low RDS of 2.8mΩ and ability to purchase low quantities for reasonable price (£0.64 ea, minimum order qty of 2).
Makes use of common N Channel BJT Transistor 2N3904 and standard resistor values for Base, Gate and Pull-Down resistor.
PCB Terminals of 5mm pitch used due to high Current Carrying Capacity of 16A.
