A 4-port Managed Gigabit Switch (10/100/1000), based on the KSZ9896, intended for outdoor applications. It accepts a wide input voltage of 7-60V and is intended to be installed into an RP1175 or RP1175C weather-proof enclosure.
- As this board is intended to be installed into a specific enclosure, it has vertical-mount RJ45 sockets (with built-in magnetics).
- The EFM32HG IC configures the switch at boot, by assigning the switch's MAC address, which port to listen on for remote-management Ethernet frames, and what EtherType to watch for remote management frames.
- Management of the switch is done directly via the the "in-band management" feature of the switch, whereby specially-crafted Ethernet frames are intercepted by the switch to allow for reading from and writing to registers. There is no web UI. Furthermore, the switch will only accept these specially-crafted Ethernet frames from one of the ports (configured and set by the EFM32HG upon boot.)
