DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Simple BLDC motor driver board.
This is a very basic brushless motor driver board for learning and experimenting with BLDC motor control. It intentionally does not include an ESC because that wil be prototyped/developed separately and experimented with. I tried to make this board as general as possible so I can experiment with different setups for the controller, different microcontrollers, etc.
This board is based around the TI DRV8302 motor driver chip. It is essentially 3 H-bridge drivers with some additional features to make motor control simpler. I then use 6 IPD025N06N N-channel FETs for the output, although these could be substituted with any similar FETs.
For maximum flexibility, I have broken out all of the control signals from the DRV8302, as well as some additional sense lines to connectors. However, I expect that a lot of these can be tied to fixed values and will not need to connect to the uC. I expect eventually to integrate the controller onto the same board as the driver, once I have settled on a uC and design.
Specs:
- Input votlage: 8-50V
- Maximum current: 20A
- No active cooling required.
- No external logic power supply. The chip itself is powered from the main battery (or other) input. The DRV8302 has as inbuilt buck regulator which can be used to power the controler. However in this revision I am not using it, so the external controller must have its own supply.
